Revitalizing Carson City Corner Icon

Community Votes On Design Direction.

Hop & Mae Adams Foundation is going through a complete renovation of the iconic building on the corner of Curry and Telegraph in downtown Carson City. More than 175 area residents attended the May 14, 2014 event, voted on the design and provided comments to the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation. The presentation of the proposed new look of 308 N Curry St. was a great success.

The winning design received an astonishing 84% of the votes! Many positive comments were placed on the voting boards with some being:

  • “Beautiful design…keeping with historic look”
  • “This IS Carson City”
  • “Great Design”
  • “Fits my feeling about Carson city and the look of the downtown area”

Perhaps the most interesting result of the day was that 100% of attendees wanted to see both retail and professional offices occupying the building. Additionally, all but one voter liked the idea of establishing a coffee house in the downtown area with 66% of votes favoring a local company verses a regional or national chain.

Built in 1964, the 22,000 square foot, multi-story building, formerly known as the “Citibank” building, is in need of many high-tech upgrades and reconditioning. Remodeling will include systems upgrades to state-of-the art technology infrastructure, heating/air conditioning systems, electrical and plumbing systems, structural and seismic upgrades and more. Demolition is complete for the iconic 308 N Curry Street building. Final design plans are underway with renovations slated to begin late 2014. The Hop & Mae Adams Foundation is excited to bring a fresh look to the building and to provide exceptional professional office and retail space to the downtown area. Completion is expected Spring 2015.
